Really liked this until it stopped workingJuly 31, 2010 Gorifyny(The Old Dominion) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had all the same positive reactions listed by others when I installed this. After I had been using it about six months, the 1-4 digits stopped working - when I pressed them nothing at all happened, though all the other buttons worked. This was intermittent for a while and then they quit altogether, taking me back to using a key. I called Schlage and was told that they recommend replacing the batteries every three months. Wonderful! Anyhow, I replaced the battery and guess what?! Now none of the buttons work at all! I have messed with the connections and all, but have been unable to revive it. So how do you send a lock in for repair? Just leave your door unprotected when you send it in? Anyhow, I misplaced my receipt, so I'm totally out of luck. I guess I'm just back to living with fishing out my key every time I need to get in.
Wonderful!July 11, 2010 BrainDoc(Eugene, OR) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased two of these locks for indoor use about six months ago. I got them to replace some fingerprint locks that didn't work very well for my wife (BIOLOCK 333 SN-BK Biometric Fingerprint Entry Lever Door Lock with Remote Control, Satin Nickel with Black Accent). These locks, on the other hand, are sturdy, well built and work flawlessly (when the correct code is entered). The batteries have held up just fine and aren't showing any signs of needing replacing yet. However, to be fair to the other reviewers who have had trouble with battery life, we don't access these locks every day. There is a button on the top that will light up the keys. This can be handy in semi-dark conditions. What more can I say? Security without keys. My wife and I love these locks. They look great, too.
Works great, easy to programJune 21, 2010 K. Boggs(Goose Creek, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This lock was easy to install, easy to program & the kids found it easy to use. With a turn of the thumbknob the lock can be set to automatically lock or remain unlocked when the door is closed. That was important to me. I usually keep it locked but it's nice to be able to keep it unlocked for unloading groceries or the like.
Very happy with this keypad entry lock/leverApril 26, 2010 Donald W. Cook Sr.(Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read the reviews and for the most part they were great. I wasn't going to spend quite this much, but I didn't want a $25 lock either. I'm very happy I made the choice to get this lock.
My son (14 years old) helped me install it - more like he held the tools for me because it was over within 20 minutes. Would have been quicker but I'm particular about the details so I move slowly. The only issue with installation that I had was getting the wires out of the way once I had the battery in place - but after a moment it became pretty logical how to place them. Programming it was a breeze, the instructions are very good for this. It took my son longer to decide what 4-digit code he wanted than it took me to program the entire thing otherwise.
The locks are very nice looking (I got the Satin Nickel finish) and look like they're going to last a long time. The lighted keypad is nice and bright, and shines in a pleasant blue color as well. I have a standard door with a standard doorknob set up in it and this fit perfectly. The replacement plates were even nice quality, very solid.
I've been using this for a month now and it's still working perfectly. When I have to replace the battery it seems like it should take maybe 10 minutes to do so - not bad whatsoever. I like that the inside handle works independently from the outside handle - so you can have it set up where it's locked from the outside but not from the inside (no more unlocking your door to leave your house, unless you're using a deadbolt or chain of course). Also I tested the key and it worked great too - may sound silly but it felt very solid and well made as well.
Being able to program several codes is great - I have one code specifically that I can hand out to friends or neighbors if ever there's a reason to have them go into my house when I'm not home. Then I can easily change it if I need to afterward, without changing my own code.
I would recommend this lock to anyone - it really is high quality and adds a neat little piece of technology to your life as well.
Buh-bye keysApril 3, 2010 R. M. Dawson(Pittsburgh, Pa) I bought my first Schlage keyless lock a little over a year ago (for my one house) from Home Depot. It is super nice to leave the house and not have to worry about having your keys on you (my car key is not on with the rest of my keys). When I would go to the other house and have a handfull of stuff... I'd have to fudge around to find my keys. I'd always say to myself I should get another one of these keyless jobs... so one day I just did! Looked on Amazon and found that they were about the price as the home improvment stores (less the sales tax) so I bought my 2nd one here. I programmed the same codes from my 1st one into the 2nd one. Adding and deleting codes is so simple... a cave man could do it! Seriously though its the bee's knees. I would recommend the Schlage in a heartbeat.
